Taekwondo (the way of the foot and fist) is a form of Korean Karate, a modern martial art with roots stemming from ancient Korea, which is now an official Olympic sport.

The Taekwondo Trinity consists of the Body, the Mind, and the Spirit. In order for an individual to develop into a complete and well-rounded person, he or she must cultivate each aspect of Taekwondo. If only one or two of these aspects are developed, then the person, no matter how hard he or she trains, may never Master the Art of Taekwondo.

The ultimate purpose of Taekwondo is to eliminate fighting by discouraging the stronger's oppression of the weaker with a power that must be based on humanity, justice, morality, wisdom, and faith, thus helping to build a better and more peaceful world.

Taekwondo promotes courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and an indomitable spirit. The Taekwondo character is built through intense physical and mental training. Each student is taught respect for others, community awareness, to set and achieve goals, and to remain humble.

THE PEACE SYMBOL: Symbolizes the ongoing quest for world peace starting one heart at a time as they enter through the doors at "McLaughlin's Taekwondo of Texas".

The circle symbolizes the never-ending cycle of training and learning as long as the circle remains closed. This not only applies in the martial arts, but in life as well.

The internal legs of the peace symbol contain the SPIRIT in the middle column, being supported by the MIND, and BODY columns (the Taekwondo Trinity).

Our honorable Dojang name is located in the circle of the peace symbol, which encompasses the nature of the Taekwondo Trinity.

Taekwondo is a word seen being used in many different ways, (e.g., Tae Kwon Do, TaeKwonDo, Taekwon-Do, etc.). We follow the guidelines used per the United States Taekwondo Union, European Taekwondo Union, Pan American Taekwondo Union, Korean Taekwondo Association, and the Kukkiwon Taekwondo World Headquarters, i.e., Taekwondo.

TEXAS: The proud state of Texas is our home and we appreciate and honor our home as we strive toward perfection.

COLOR SCEME: The red, white, and blue colors are symbolic of our great country, the United States of America, where we honor our families, and communities, obeying the laws that our forefathers set in place to protect us all.

DRAGON: The dragon has an indomitable spirit, gentle yet fierce, Eum-Yang, in Korean terminology, Yin-Yang, in popular Chinese terminology. The dragon maintains a gentle nature; however, if provoked, or forced to defend himself or his home, he transforms into a fierce combatant, fighting relentlessly in pursuit of victory and self-preservation.

Without any of these elements there would not be a McLaughlin's Taekwondo of Texas. Continue the honor and the pride when you speak of McLaughlin's Taekwondo of Texas; always be eager to express the meaning and legend of the logo. Hold dear its idea as you walk life's corridor. Be aware that as McLaughlin's Taekwondo of Texas touches your life, it will always be a part of you, and you a part of it. Wear this symbol with honor and respect! Our Black Belts walk today's troubled streets with complete self-confidence. Want to take a walk?
